Profile

We are Clay County's Historical Society, Museum, and Genealogical Research Center and have been working hard to preserve local history since 1972. Although we have been at our down-town location for 5 years, we still have work to do. Relocating hundreds of thousands of artifacts, photos, and documents brought some unique challenges!

Both floors are open for tours with improvements coming to exhibits as we are able. This year marks our 50th anniversary for the Historical Society as well as the 5th anniversary of our down-town location. We are excited to celebrate this year with special exhibits showcasing our best artifacts we've received. We just want to thank everyone for their continued support of their museum.

Future Goals

  • Repairing the buildings at Sportsman Park/Heritage Row.

  • Creating self guided tours.

  • Creating an interactive childrens area.

  • Implementing interactives throughout the museum
