Presbyterian Youth Ministries (PYM)

Goal: $8,000.00

Specific Need

Presbyterian Youth Ministries (PYM) is a youth organization seeking to equip and empower youth to play an active role in the Church today. While we are directly associated with both First Presbyterian Church of Clay Center and Idana Presbyterian Church, we walk alongside many students not affiliated with either church. This past year, we were able to reach over 100 different students in the Clay County area through the various trips and activities we planned. Of these students, approximately 76% would be considered “non-churched” individuals. By the grace of God, our youth room is blessed to be used as a space in which curious souls can find comfort and rest. Students regularly come to the church after school to hangout and catch up with their friends. We are so glad they feel comfortable here!

Recently, we took 29 students to Student Life camp in Estes Park, Colorado. Three of our students dedicated their lives to Christ while on that trip. Last week, we took 14 high school students on a missions trip to Kansas City. This was done alongside 16 students from the Clay Center Covenant Church. It is so refreshing to see our youth mature in their faith! Because of your previous generosity, both trips could be offered for a fraction of the true cost.

In adition to these missions trips, we also are also needing funds for our youth intern. By God's providence, we have seen much growth in our youth program recently. Every week, we have lots of students who come to the church after school to hang out. These times have been perfect opportunity for outreach and discipleship. In order to build upon this uniue ministry opportunity, we would like to hire a youth intern this summer in order to increase the amount of students we are able to reach each week.

As we look toward the future, I would ask you to consider giving to the mission of PYM at the annual Gather for Good “Match Day”. This next year, we hope to continue to be able to offer trips and experiences at low rates, build upon the community being developed within the youth room, and hire additional laborers who are passionate about reaching students with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Any donation amount given on this platform will go directly back to area youth in these specific ways. If you have any questions about these projects, feel free to contact Tim Roberts. Thank you for financially equipping our youth to play an active role in the Church today!

Mission

PYM exists to empower and encourage area youth and their families with the gospel of Jesus Christ so that we might all be transformed more and more into the image of God (2 Corinthians 3:16-18)

Profile

Presbyterian Youth Ministries is a ministry of the First Presbyterian Church of Clay Center and Idana Presbyterian Church. We function as a resource for all youth to know God and serve others better. PYM operates under 5 Core Beliefs...

  1. We ought to live out of a desire to submit to and be trained through Scripture (2 Tim. 3:16, 2 Peter 1:21)

  2. Because of our sinfulness, the free gift of Jesus Christ is the only basis for our right standing before God (Rom. 5:8, Eph. 2:8)

  3. Our sins are purchased through Jesus Christ alone (Eph. 1:7, 1 Corinth. 15:3, Heb. 2:9)

  4. Our salvation is received through faith alone (in Jesus Christ) (Jn. 3:15-17, Romans 10:9-13)

  5. We exist for the glory of God (Eph. 2:8-10, Lev. 11:45)

The vision of PYM is for...

  1. Each student leaves our program understanding the person and work of Jesus Christ with great clarity (see bullets below)

  2. To spiritually engage students while they are at church, work, school, extra-curricular activities, and home

  3. To foster deep-rooted relationships with other people, groups, and organizations in the community for the sake of deepening the community’s understanding of Jesus Christ

  4. To train adult volunteers who seek to disciple our students

The following bullet points qualify gospel clarity (mentioned in vision #1)

  • Each student understands that Jesus is fully God and fully man

  • Each students understands that Jesus’ death on the cross was intentionally done to purchase our sins

  • Each student understands that the Christian walk is not sought after as a self esteem booster or general guidelines to living a good life, but is sought after in thanksgiving to our Savior’s redemption of the elect from their sinful nature
