Scouts in Clay Center / United Methodist Church

Goal: $6,000.00

Specific Need

As with most organizations working with the youth, we welcome youth (kindergarten thru age 18), adults volunteers and financial support.

Donations are used to reduce the costs of scouting for the local Scouts.              Interested in helping?

Scouts is a family oriented program for young girls and young boys. The traditional Scouting Units are Cub Scouting, for ages 5 to 11 years, and Scouts BSA, for ages 11 to 18.  The program provides fun, adventure, learning, challenges, and teaches responsibility while helping them become the best version of themselves and good citizens.

Mission

The two local Scouting units exist through a partnership between the Clay Center United Methodist Church and Boy Scouts of America for developing the youth of this community. This partnership has existed for about 50 years. The stated mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them good values.  Youth are instructed in responsible citizenship, character development, and self-reliance through participation in a wide range of outdoor activities such as camping, aquatics and hiking along with various educational programs.

Profile

Adult Volunteer opportunities:

Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA are always looking for adult volunteers. From Unit Committee members, who help with the administrative tacks, to trained Leaders who guide the Scouts through their journey in Scouting. Scouting is a wonderful way for an adult to give back to the community by guiding its youth to adulthood. The local units together use about 25 adult volunteers in their programs ever year plus Scout parents.
