Clay County Task Force

Goal: $5,000.00

Specific Need

Clay County Task Force, Inc.  seeks donations to use as necessary matching funds for grants for growth in providing public transportation for the entire County and services to meet the needs and desires of Seniors in our County.  For transportation, this non-profit corporation receives KDOT transportation grants of up to 80% but must have a 20% local match in funds before we can qualify to get any money from KDOT and other grants.  We receive County funds, but they are required for both transportation and senior programs such as Friendship meals, Meals on Wheels and Senior center activities.  Demand for all our programs has increased significantly due to rising gas prices, food prices and maintenance price increases.  Help us help people stay in our County to live and work, and Seniors be more independent and be able to continue to live in their homes, by providing tax free donations to our current programs, and help us fund a County wide Senior Center that provides recreational and social activities for Seniors in our County.

Mission

Clay County Task Force, Inc.  is a Kansas Non-profit Corporation and 501 (c)(3) charitable organization with the mission of providing low cost public transportation for all in Clay County and providing services to meet the needs of Seniors in our County.

Profile

The Task Force is seeking input as to the needs and wants of Seniors for an activity Senior Center for the entire County.  We currently provide support to small local centers now at Apollo Towers, Wakefield and Longford, operate Friendship Meals program and Meals on Wheels, in conjunction with the Area Agency on Aging, and operate the Clay County General Public Transportation program, winner in 2022 of the Kansas Public Transit Association's award of Kansas Transit Program of the Year!

Our transportation program, open to all in our County, has shown an increase in ridership of 300% due to more out of Clay Center and out of county travel, primarily to medical appointments necessary out of county.  For example, we have transported 3 Dialysis patients to treatments requiring travel to Marysville, 3 days a week for up to 8 hours, for this life saving medical care. We also bring Clay County residents to our hospital, CCMC, for physical therapy, to see Doctors, have radiology and lab services and other outpatient care.  We are not an ambulance, however.

Help us to continue to provide and improve these vital services to Clay County residents so that they may remain in their homes, experience a better quality of life and have important social contacts as well as reach medical services.
