Specific Need

We would like to purchase and have installed a Modern Shade structure for the playground area at our Head Start center at 314 Court Street in Clay Center. The shade will allow us to remove an aging gazebo and provide additional shaded playground space for the children to use during their recesses.

Clay County Child Care Center, Inc. operates Head Start and Early Head Start programs in Clay, Cloud, Ottawa, Republic, and Washington Counties. The programs are more than an academic experience. They are a “whole child” experience, taking into account the child and family’s health, social-emotional well-being, and family and community experience. The overall goal of the programs are to promote school readiness for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers from income eligible families. Services are available to prenatal moms and families with children aged 0-5.

The Head Start program is a free pre-school designed to provide income eligible children with the skills to succeed in school. We have qualified staff that offer educational curriculum, nutritious meals and snacks, social skills, mental health services, transportation, and much more. The Early Head Start program is a free home visitation program that provides support to income eligible prenatal moms and families with children aged 0-3. We focus on the parent-child relationship and connect families to community resources. This includes weekly home visits, prenatal and early childhood education, developmental activities, nutrition and health information and much more.
